Short Bio
Michele grew up in a rural area of Michigan where wildlife was abundant. Her family grew their own vegetables and each child was assigned both a flower garden and care of the vegetables. She spent many hours exploring the swamps, forest and fields of butterflies in the countryside. Later as a teenager she studied sculpture with master artists from the Cranbrook Academy of Art. Her artistic path continued and she turned to painting, first in watercolors which laid a strong foundation in principals and fundamentals of art vs techniques. Today Michele works in oils with a concentration on classical indirect method. She owes a debt of gratitude to the Dutch and Venetian masters of the 1700’s. She employs a harmonic armature in her compositions. Her paintings are layered with transparent paint applied layer over layer. The effect yields great depth and luminescent colors that sparkle and develop over time.
